Colouring Pages Online

Pick a picture, choose a color and tap to fill. Your work is saved in this browser.

This free online coloring app lets you color colouring pages online directly in your browser, with nothing to install and no account to create. Choose a picture, then fill spaces with a bucket or paint with a brush. It works on computers, tablets and phones.

The pictures cover mandalas, geometric patterns, stained glass, snowflakes, alphabets, numbers, birthday and Christmas designs, so you can find both coloring pages for adults and online coloring for kids here. Every picture is drawn by this site. You can also upload your own line art to color, or open a picture straight from any of the site’s coloring page makers with their ‘Color it online’ button. Your work is saved in this browser as you go.

How to color a picture online

  1. Pick a design type chip, such as Mandala, Alphabet or Christmas tree. Each chip shows six thumbnails.
  2. Click a thumbnail to open it. If none of them suits you, select ‘New picture’ to draw a new set.
  3. Choose a color from the 24-color palette, or select ‘Pick any color’ for a custom shade. Your last 8 colors appear under ‘Recent colors’.
  4. Select ‘Fill’, then tap a space to fill it with your color.
  5. For more control, select ‘Brush’, pick one of its 5 sizes, and paint over the area.
  6. Use ‘Eraser’ to remove color while keeping the lines.
  7. Select ‘Move’ to pan around a large picture.
  8. Use ‘Zoom in’, ‘Zoom out’ or ‘Fit to screen’ to get closer to small spaces. On a touch screen, pinch with two fingers. On a computer, hold Ctrl and scroll.
  9. When you are finished, select ‘Save PNG’ to save the colored picture, or ‘Print’ to print it fitted to the page.

Each action can be reversed with ‘Undo’ and ‘Redo’, which keep at least 30 steps. On a computer, Ctrl+Z undoes and Ctrl+Shift+Z redoes. ‘Clear colors’ removes all color at once, and you can undo that too.

To print a blank copy of a picture first, open it on its own generator page.

Is online coloring free and do I need an account?

Online coloring on this page is free, and you do not need an account or any software. Everything runs in your browser, so you open the page and start coloring. There is nothing to download or install.

Does it work on a phone or tablet?

Yes. The app works on computers, tablets and phones, and it supports touch. You tap a space with ‘Fill’ to color it, and you use two fingers to pinch and zoom. Small phone screens are easier to work on when you zoom in before filling tight shapes.

How do I keep the colors inside the lines?

The black lines always stay on top, so the ‘Fill’ tool can never paint over them. Each tap fills only the enclosed space you tap. The ‘Brush’ has a setting called ‘Stay inside the lines’, which is on by default. It limits the brush to the space where you started the stroke, so color does not spill into the next shape. If you make a mistake, ‘Eraser’ removes the color and keeps the line.

Is my coloring saved if I close the page?

Your work is saved automatically in the browser you are using. When you come back, the app shows “Welcome back: your last picture is restored”. Because the save is stored in that browser, your picture will not appear on a different device. If your browser does not allow saving, your work is kept only while the page stays open, so save a PNG before you leave.

Can I color my own picture or photo?

You can upload your own line art. The tool works best with black lines on white paper, such as a scanned coloring page or the result of the photo to coloring page tool. A regular photo has too many shades to work as line art, so convert it first with the photo converter linked below. Your uploaded picture stays in the browser and is not sent anywhere.

Can I print or save the colored picture?

Yes. ‘Save PNG’ saves your colored picture as an image file. ‘Print’ prints the picture fitted to the page, so you get the whole design on one sheet regardless of how far you have zoomed in on screen.

Which pictures are good for adults?

For adults, choose designs with a lot of detail and time to work through. Hard mandalas, stained glass pictures with many pieces, and doodle patterns with small detail all reward slow, careful coloring. For children, the alphabet, number and Christmas pictures, along with designs with big shapes, are easier to fill and finish.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Fill and Brush?

‘Fill’ colors a whole enclosed space with one tap, which is quick for large areas. ‘Brush’ lets you paint freely in five sizes, which suits shading and small parts of a design.

Can I start over with a clean picture?

Yes. ‘Clear colors’ removes all the color and keeps the lines. You can undo it if you change your mind.

What if I want a different picture?

Select the design chip you want, then choose ‘New picture’ to draw a new set of six thumbnails. Each picture is drawn by this site.

Why do the lines stay black when I fill a shape?

The black lines are always placed on top of your color, so filling a space never covers them. This keeps the design sharp even when you use bold colors.

How do I color small spaces accurately?

Zoom in using ‘Zoom in’ or pinch with two fingers on a touch screen. When you are done, press ‘Fit to screen’ to see the whole picture again.

Can I open a picture I started earlier?

Yes, as long as you return in the same browser where you were working. The app restores your last picture when you come back.

Does the printed picture include the colors I used?

Yes. ‘Print’ prints the colored picture, fitted to the page. Use ‘Save PNG’ if you want a copy of the image file as well.
