Dinosaur Coloring Pages Maker

Pick a T. rex, triceratops, stegosaurus or another dinosaur, add a volcano backdrop or six to a page, and print.

This free dinosaur coloring pages tool makes printable dinosaur coloring sheets right in your web browser. You choose a picture, set the layout and page options, and print the page or download it as a PDF, with no sign-up needed.

The tool draws friendly, smiling cartoon dinosaurs in side view, with their best-known features drawn large so kids can spot them. You can make a single big picture, several pictures on one sheet, or a folding card, and you can add a headline, a backdrop, or the picture’s name under it. The set has 14 pictures: ten prehistoric animals from T. rex to plesiosaurus, plus a hatching egg, a baby dinosaur, a dragon and a volcano.

How to make a dinosaur coloring page

  1. Open the Picture menu and choose a dinosaur, such as T. rex or Triceratops, or leave Surprise me selected.
  2. Pick a Layout. Use One big picture for a single page, 6 pictures for a small coloring book sheet, or Folding card for a card with a message box.
  3. For one big picture, choose a Backdrop. Leave it on Automatic to match the picture, or pick a fixed one such as Meadow or Prehistoric.
  4. Turn on Show the picture’s name if you want the name written under the picture.
  5. Type a Headline of up to 40 characters, and set Writing lines from 0 to 6 if you want space to write.
  6. Open Page settings to choose the paper size (US Letter or A4), orientation, line weight, and page border.
  7. Set Number of pages from 1 to 30 if you want more than one page.
  8. Press Print to print only the coloring pages, or Download PDF to save all pages as one file.

Press New design (or the N key) to get a new page with the same settings. Copy link saves an address that reopens the same page, and Color it online opens the same picture in the online coloring tool.

Which dinosaurs are included in the dinosaur coloring pages?

The set has 14 pictures. Eight are dinosaurs: T. rex, Triceratops, Stegosaurus, Brachiosaurus, Ankylosaurus, Parasaurolophus, Spinosaurus, and Velociraptor. Pteranodon and Plesiosaurus are not dinosaurs. They were reptiles that lived at the same time as dinosaurs, so the set also has a flying reptile and a swimming reptile. The last four pictures are a dinosaur egg with a baby hatching, a baby dinosaur, a friendly dragon and a smoking volcano.

How can kids tell the dinosaurs apart?

Each drawing shows one or two features that make the dinosaur easy to identify. A T. rex has a big head, tiny arms, and strong back legs. A Triceratops has three horns and a bony frill behind the head. A Stegosaurus has plates along its back and spikes on its tail. A Brachiosaurus has a very long neck held high, and an Ankylosaurus has an armored back and a club at the end of its tail. A Parasaurolophus has a long tube-shaped crest, and a Spinosaurus has a sail on its back and a long snout. Turning on the picture name helps kids match each name to its shape.

What color were dinosaurs?

Nobody knows the real colors of most dinosaurs. Skin color is rarely preserved in fossils, so scientists cannot tell from bones alone what color a dinosaur was. That means any colors are fine on these pages. A green T. rex, a purple Triceratops, or a striped Stegosaurus is as good a choice as any other.

Can I print a dinosaur coloring book?

Yes. Choose 6 pictures as the layout for a sheet with several dinosaurs, each with its name under it, which works like a small coloring book page. For a full book, press the quick style Whole set, one per page: it makes 14 pages, one dinosaur on each. Then use Download PDF to save them as one file for printing.

Is it free to use?

Yes, the tool is free and needs no sign-up. Every picture is drawn by the site’s own code, with simple black outlines and white insides. No images are copied from other websites or picture collections, and there are no cartoon characters from films or TV. Your pages are made in your browser, and nothing is uploaded.

Can I add my child’s name?

Yes, in two ways. Type the name into the Headline field, which places your own words in big outline letters at the top of the page. Or turn on Add a name line under Page settings to add a line for writing a name. You can use both together.

Frequently asked questions

Can I print more than one dinosaur page at a time?

Yes. Set Number of pages from 1 to 30 under Page settings. Each page gets its own random choice of picture, and all the pages go into one PDF or one print job.

What is the difference between Print and Download PDF?

Print sends only the coloring pages to your printer. Download PDF saves all pages as one vector PDF file, which you can print later.

Which paper sizes can I use?

You can choose US Letter or A4 under Page settings. You can also choose portrait or landscape orientation.

Can I color the dinosaur on the screen instead of on paper?

Yes. Press Color it online to open the same picture in the site’s online coloring tool.

What does Download PNG or Download SVG save?

Both buttons save page 1 only. Use Download PDF if you want every page of the set.

Can I save the exact page I made so I can come back to it?

Yes. Press Copy link to copy an address that reopens the same page with the same settings.

Can I make a dinosaur birthday or party sheet?

Yes. Type a headline such as a child’s name or “Dino Party” (up to 40 characters), and set Number of pages to the number of guests. With Surprise me each guest gets a different dinosaur.
