Doodle Colouring Pages Maker

Pick a layout and a pattern size; every region gets its own doodle pattern to color.

Doodle colouring pages are printable sheets divided into regions, each filled with a different doodle pattern such as waves, dots or crosshatching. This free tool draws doodle colouring pages in your web browser. Press a button, and a new design appears with a white space inside every shape, ready to color. There is no sign-up, and nothing you make is uploaded or sent to a server. Every picture is drawn by the site’s own code when you press a button, so each design is new rather than copied from an image collection. You can print it or download it as a PDF, PNG or SVG file. If you are looking for tangle patterns printable or printable doodle art coloring pages, this gives you a quick set to work from.

What is a doodle coloring page?

A doodle coloring page is a sheet split into closed regions, where each region holds its own patterned fill. Each region gets a different pattern, and the pattern stays inside its region’s edges. Free blobs makes 9 to 12 rounded shapes, Bands makes 6 to 8 slanted stripes across the page, Tiles makes a 3 × 4 grid (4 × 3 in landscape), and Big shape splits one large heart, star, circle or butterfly into patterned pieces on a dotted background.

The patterns on this page include stripes, waves, zigzag, crosshatch, triangle grid, dots, circles, scales, checker, spirals, vines, pebbles and bricks. Every closed shape has a white inside, so any space can be colored with crayons, colored pencils or markers. Line weight and pattern size control how much detail there is. Thick lines suit young children and markers. Thin lines suit colored pencils and fine work. Pattern size sets the spacing between pattern lines: about 9 mm for Big – easy, about 6 mm for Medium, and about 4.4 mm for Small – detailed.

Is this the same as Zentangle?

No. Zentangle is a registered trademark of Zentangle, Inc., and this generator is not affiliated with it. If you searched for zentangle patterns printable, this tool draws tangle-style patterns, which are dense, repeating line fills in small areas. It does not use any Zentangle designs or methods from that company. The patterns are generated by the site’s own code, so they are not copies of any published Zentangle work.

How do you color a doodle page?

There are two common ways. You can color each whole region in one color and let the pattern lines add texture, or you can color the small spaces inside a pattern in two or three alternating colors, such as every other stripe or every second scale. Mixing both on one page works well: plain regions next to busy ones make the patterns stand out. Light colors keep the pattern lines easy to see, so save dark colors for the background around a Big shape.
