Free Coloring Pages for Kids
Big, simple pictures with thick lines for small hands: one per page or four to a page, with the name to read.
This free kids coloring pages tool makes easy coloring pages for young children, about ages 3 to 6, right in your web browser. You pick a picture or let the tool choose one, and it draws a simple page with black outlines and white insides that you can print or download. There is no sign-up, and nothing you make is uploaded.
Every picture is drawn by the site’s own code, so no images are copied from other websites and there are no cartoon characters from films or TV. The set holds only the simplest drawings, with big areas and few small parts. It includes animals, dinosaurs, vehicles, flowers, holiday pictures, everyday objects, and six cute foods with faces. These are simple coloring pages for toddlers, easy coloring sheets for preschoolers, and coloring pages for kindergarten.
How to use the Kids Coloring Pages tool
- Choose a Quick style, such as ‘4 pictures per page’ or ‘Cute donut’, or leave the default ‘Surprise me’.
- Open the ‘Picture’ menu to pick one drawing by name, or choose ‘Whole set, one picture per page’ to go through the set in order.
- Under ‘Layout’, keep ‘One big picture’ or pick ‘2 pictures’, ‘4 pictures’, ‘6 pictures’ or ‘Folding card’.
- If you chose one big picture, set a ‘Backdrop’, or keep ‘Automatic’.
- Under ‘Page settings’, choose the Paper, Orientation, Line weight (Thick for the boldest lines) and Page border.
- Set ‘Number of pages’ from 1 to 30; each page gets its own picture.
- Add optional text, such as a ‘Headline’, ‘Writing lines’ or a ‘Title on the page’.
- Press ‘New design’ (or the N key) for a new page with the same settings, then use ‘Print’, ‘Download PDF’, ‘Download PNG’, ‘Download SVG’, ‘Copy link’ or ‘Color it online’.
Pictures are drawn as large as the sheet allows, and the name under each one is in outline letters a child can color too. Print sends only the coloring pages to your printer. Download PDF saves all pages as one file, while the PNG and SVG downloads save page 1 only.
What makes a coloring page easy for a 3 to 5 year old?
An easy page has one large subject, thick outlines, and open areas that are simple to fill. Small parts and tight corners are hard for small hands, so this set leaves them out. Very young children usually do best with one large picture per page.
Jumbo crayons and washable markers suit toddlers, and a page with a big picture and a few parts is less likely to frustrate a child who is just learning to color inside the lines.
Why are the lines thicker?
On this page, lines are drawn 1.5 times thicker than the same Line weight setting elsewhere on the site. Thick lines are easier to stay inside, and they work well with crayons and markers. For the boldest outlines, choose Thick under Line weight.
How many pictures are there?
The ‘Picture’ menu lists 71 pictures, from Bear and Bunny to Donut and Avocado. Choose ‘Surprise me’ to get a different picture each time you press New design. Choose ‘Whole set, one picture per page’ to move through the set in order, with page 1 showing the first picture, page 2 the next, and so on. ‘Number of pages’ goes up to 30, so a one-per-page print run covers 30 pictures; with ‘6 pictures’ per sheet, 12 pages hold all of them.
Can I make a little coloring book?
Yes. The ‘40-picture book, 4 per page’ quick style makes 10 pages with 4 different pictures on each. You can also set ‘Number of pages’ from 1 to 30, and all of them go into one PDF with Download PDF. Four-picture pages suit short attention spans, while one big picture per page suits the youngest children.
Is it free and safe for kids?
The tool is free, needs no sign-up, and runs in the web browser. Nothing is uploaded. Every picture is drawn by the site’s own code, so no images are copied from other picture collections or websites, and no cartoon characters from films or TV appear. As with any website, an adult should still supervise children who use it.
Do the pages show the word for the picture?
Yes, by default. The picture’s name is written underneath in big outline letters, so children can color the word as well as the picture. This helps children who are learning to read. You can control this with ‘Show the picture’s name’ in the settings.
Frequently asked questions
Can I print the pages at home?
Yes. Print sends only the coloring pages to your printer. Under ‘Page settings’, choose US Letter or A4 paper, and Portrait or Landscape orientation.
Can my child color the picture on screen?
Yes. ‘Color it online’ opens the same picture in the site’s online coloring tool.
How do I add a name or a message?
Turn on ‘Add a name line’ under ‘Page settings’ for a name line. Use ‘Headline’ (up to 40 characters) for your own words in big outline letters at the top, and ‘Writing lines’ (0 to 6) for handwriting lines under the picture.
How do I get back to the same page later?
Press ‘Copy link’ to copy an address that reopens the same page.
What does Folding card mean?
Folding card is a ‘Layout’ option. The sheet is divided by a dashed fold line. One half has the picture and headline, and the other half has ‘To:’ and ‘From:’ lines and a box for a message.
Why does the picture change when I press New design?
New design makes a new page with the same settings. If you chose ‘Surprise me’, it picks another picture. It also rearranges the backdrop, which never covers the picture.
Can I use a fixed backdrop with several pictures?
No. The ‘Backdrop’ options only apply to ‘One big picture’. Use ‘Layout’ options like ‘2 pictures’ or ‘4 pictures’ for more than one drawing per sheet.
