Make your own printable coloring pages

Photo to Coloring Page Converter

Choose a photo (or several), adjust the lines and print. Your photos never leave your device.

This free tool turns a photo into a black-and-white coloring page: clean line art on a white background that you can print, save as a PDF or PNG, or color online. It works in your browser, so there is no sign-up. Add a photo or any picture, and the coloring page appears in the same tab. You can make one page from a single picture or a multi-page coloring book from up to 40 pictures. A built-in sample scene lets you try the settings before you use your own photo. Because the picture to coloring page converter works inside the page, your photos are never uploaded: family pictures, pets and children’s drawings stay on your own device.

How to turn a photo into a coloring page

  1. Click Choose photos, drop pictures onto the page, or paste one. Each picture becomes one page. To test the settings first, click Try a sample.
  2. Pick a Style. Clean lines is the default. Cartoon outlines works well for coloring books, Pencil sketch gives gray pencil-style lines, and Bold edges gives strong edge lines.
  3. Adjust Detail from 1 to 10 (default 4). Low values give big, simple shapes, and high values give fine lines.
  4. Set Line thickness from 1 to 5 (default 3).
  5. Set Remove small specks from 0 to 10 (default 5). Higher values remove more tiny marks and broken bits.
  6. If the photo is too dark or washed out, adjust Brightness or Contrast (from −50 to 50, default 0).
  7. Under Paper, choose US Letter or A4. Under Page orientation, choose Auto, Portrait, or Landscape.
  8. Check the result with the Compare slider, which shows the original on the left and the coloring page on the right.
  9. Click Download PDF, Download PNG, or Print, or click Color it online.

Reset settings restores all the defaults. To build a coloring book, use Move earlier and Move later to change page order. The first picture is page 1. Remove deletes a picture from the list. Download PDF (N pages) saves all pages in one file.

Are my photos uploaded anywhere?

No. Your photos never leave your device. Everything is drawn in this browser tab, and nothing is uploaded. The processing runs inside the page, in a background thread when the browser allows it. Because of this, you can use personal family photos without sending them to a server.

What kind of photo works best?

Photos with one clear subject, good light, and a plain background give the cleanest pages. Pets, close-up faces, toys, buildings, and simple landscapes all work well.

The reason lies in how the tool finds lines. First, the photo is turned to grayscale and smoothed. Next, the tool finds the edges where brightness changes. Then it removes weak and tiny edges, and draws the remaining lines in black on white. A clear subject creates a few strong edges, which become a clean outline. A busy scene creates thousands of small edges, such as the texture of leaves, grass, or a crowd. Each one becomes a line, so the page looks crowded.

Shadows and bright glare also create edges. A photo taken in soft, even light usually gives better results than one with harsh shadows. If your photo has a messy background, try cropping it before you add it, or use Cartoon outlines, which simplifies the picture into flat color areas and turns their borders into closed outlines. Closed outlines matter for coloring: a space with a gap in its border is hard to fill neatly, and it cannot be filled with one tap in the online coloring tool.

Which style should I choose?

Start with Clean lines: it gives tidy outlines for most photos. Switch to Cartoon outlines when the page should look like a coloring book, with every shape closed, for example for a pet portrait or a toy. Pencil sketch gives gray, softer lines that suit older children and adults who like to shade. Bold edges draws every strong edge it finds, which works for buildings and objects with clear shapes but can be busy on nature photos.

Frequently asked questions

How do I make a coloring book from several photos?

Add up to 40 pictures at once. Each one becomes a page, and the first picture is page 1. Use Move earlier and Move later to change the order, then click Download PDF (N pages) to save all pages as one PDF. Click Print to print every page.

Why does my coloring page have too many lines?

The photo probably has a busy texture, such as leaves, grass, or fur. Lower Detail to make bigger, simpler shapes, and raise Remove small specks to delete tiny broken marks. You can also switch to Cartoon outlines, which makes fewer, closed outlines.

Can I color the result online?

Yes. Click Color it online to send the line art to the site’s online coloring page, which runs in your browser. If your browser blocks this, click Download PNG, then use Upload your own line art on the coloring page.

Does it work with iPhone HEIC photos?

HEIC photos open only in Safari. In other browsers, save a JPG or PNG copy of the photo first. The tool respects the rotation information from your phone, so the picture should appear the right way up.

Do I need to resize large photos first?

No. For the final page, big photos are reduced to a maximum of 2,400 pixels on the long side. You can add the original file directly.

Which paper sizes can I print on?

You can choose US Letter or A4 under Paper. Each page is fitted to the paper when you download a PDF. Leave Page orientation on Auto to let the tool pick portrait or landscape from the shape of the picture.
