A puppy coloring page is an outline picture of a puppy with big, simple areas to color. This free maker draws one in your web browser, with no sign-up and nothing uploaded. The set has nine pictures: a sitting puppy with floppy ears and a collar, a puppy face, a long dachshund, a doghouse with a puppy peeking out, a dog bone, a paw print, a dog bowl, a dog and a ball. Print one big puppy coloring page, two, four or six to a sheet, or a folding card for a pet-lover’s birthday. Press Print, or save a PDF, PNG or SVG. Every picture is made by the site’s own code, so none of them is copied from another website.

How to make a puppy coloring page

  1. Click a quick style such as Puppy, Puppy face, Dachshund, Doghouse, Dog bone or Paw print. Or open the ‘Picture’ menu and choose a drawing, or leave it on ‘Surprise me’.
  2. Open ‘Layout’ and choose ‘One big picture’, ‘2 pictures’, ‘4 pictures’, ‘6 pictures’ or ‘Folding card’.
  3. With one big picture, open ‘Backdrop’. ‘Automatic’ puts a meadow behind the puppy and the dachshund and a kitchen behind the bowl; or pick another scene, or ‘None’.
  4. The picture’s name is shown under each picture by default. Untick ‘Show the picture’s name’ to remove it.
  5. Type a ‘Headline’ of up to 40 characters, such as your dog’s name, set ‘Writing lines’ from 0 to 6 and choose a ‘Letter style’ of Chunky or Rounded.
  6. Under ‘Page settings’, choose the paper (US Letter or A4), orientation, line weight (Thin, Medium or Thick) and page border. You can also add a title and a name line.
  7. Set ‘Number of pages’ (1 to 30) if you want more than one sheet.
  8. Press ‘New design’ (or the N key) for a fresh page with the same settings. Then press ‘Print’ or ‘Download PDF’.

‘Download PNG’ and ‘Download SVG’ save page 1 as an image, ‘Copy link’ copies an address that reopens the same page, and ‘Color it online’ opens the same picture in the site’s online coloring tool.

Which puppy and dog pictures are in the set?

The sitting puppy has floppy ears, a patch over one eye, a collar with a round tag, a curly tail and its tongue out. The puppy face is a close-up for a big, easy page. The dachshund is drawn from the side, with a long body and short legs. The doghouse has a puppy looking out of the door, and the bone, paw print and dog bowl are single objects that are quick to color. The set also has a plain dog and a ball. Together they make free coloring page puppies and dog sheets for a dog lover.

What colors can a puppy be?

Puppies come in many colors, so there is no wrong choice. Many are black, brown, tan, cream or white, and some have patches or spots. For the dachshund, a brown or reddish coat is common; the breed can also have smooth, wire or long hair in several colors. The patch on the puppy’s face and the round collar tag are separate areas, so the puppy can have a different color on its ear, patch and collar. For a fantasy puppy, use blue fur and a rainbow collar.

What is a dachshund?

A dachshund is a German breed of short-legged, long-bodied dog. It was bred to scent, chase and flush out badgers and other animals that live in burrows, and a smaller version was bred to hunt rabbits. The dachshund picture shows this long shape in side view, so it is a good one for children who like a bit more room to color along the body.

Can I print a puppy coloring book?

Yes. Choose the quick style ‘Whole set, one per page’ to make a 9-page pack with one picture on each page, or ‘4 pictures per page’ to put four different pictures on every sheet. The ‘Folding card’ layout puts the picture and a headline on the front and To: and From: lines inside, which suits a pet-themed invitation or thank-you card. Type your dog’s name in the Headline box to make the page personal.

Frequently asked questions

Are these puppy coloring pages free to print?

Yes. You can print as many pages as you like on US Letter or A4 paper, or save them as a PDF, with no sign-up.

Is there a puppy coloring page for toddlers?

The puppy face, the bone and the paw print have big, simple shapes. Choose a Thick line weight under Page settings for easier outlines.

Are cartoon dog characters included?

No. All the dogs here are original drawings in a friendly style. TV and movie dog characters are not used.

Can I write my dog’s name on the page?

Yes. Type it in the Headline box (up to 40 characters). It is printed at the top as outline letters that can be colored too.

Which paper and settings work best?

US Letter or A4 both work. Use Medium line weight for crayons and Thin for colored pencils. For a class set, set Number of pages and add a name line from Page settings so each child can write a name.

Can I use what I make with the puppy coloring page commercially?

Yes. Everything you make here is royalty-free for personal, classroom and commercial use, including KDP books, Etsy printables and Teachers Pay Teachers. No credit is required. The only thing you may not do is copy the generator or the site itself to run a competing service; see the terms.
