Word Coloring Pages: Names and Quotes
Type a name, word or quote (up to 60 characters) and print it in big letters to color.
How to use the word coloring pages tool
- Type your word, name or short quote into “Your words”. You can also press a quick style: “Be kind”, “Love” or “Your name”.
- Choose a “Letter style”. Pick “Chunky” for capitals or “Rounded” to keep small letters.
- Pick a “Background” such as “Stars”, “Hearts”, “Flowers” or “Sunburst rays”, or choose “None”.
- Open “Page settings” and set the paper (US Letter or A4), the orientation, and the line weight.
- If you want them, add a page border, a “Title on the page”, or an “Add a name line”.
- Set “Number of pages” from 1 to 30.
- Press “New design” to rearrange the background decoration until you like it.
- Press “Print”, or choose “Download PDF”, “Download PNG” or “Download SVG”.
Press the N key as a shortcut for “New design”. “Print” prints only the picture pages, one picture per sheet. “Download PDF” saves all pages in one vector PDF with sharp lines at any size. “Copy link” copies a web address that holds your settings and design number, so the same picture opens again later. “Color it online” opens the same picture in the site’s online coloring tool.
Any change to the text redraws the page at once.
What makes a good word coloring page?
Every letter and shape on the page is a closed outline with a white inside, so every space can be colored with crayons, colored pencils or markers. The decoration never touches the letters, which keeps each word easy to see and color. Short words with wide letters, such as a first name, LOVE or BE KIND, give the biggest spaces. Chunky letters are thicker, so they leave more room inside each letter for patterns or shading; Rounded letters look softer and keep lower-case letters, which suits names written the way a child learns them.
How long can the text be?
The text can be up to 60 characters, and the default is “Be kind”. Spaces and punctuation count as characters, so a short name fits easily while a long quote may need trimming. The tool sizes the letters to fill the page, which means shorter text gives bigger letters. Big letters suit young children and thick lines.
If your text is longer than the page can hold on one line, it wraps automatically onto up to 4 lines. You do not need to add any breaks for a typical quote. Check the preview after you type, because a very long phrase may leave the letters smaller than you want.
How do I put words on two lines?
Type a vertical bar (|) where you want a new line, for example “Be | kind”. Without a bar, the tool wraps the text on its own, which can split a phrase in an awkward place. Using | gives you control over the phrasing, such as a name on one line and a title on the next.
Put the break where a reader would naturally pause. Keep each line short enough that the letters stay large and easy to color inside. If you use all 4 lines, the letters will be smaller, so check the result before you print.
Frequently asked questions
How do I make a coloring page with my child’s name?
Type the name into “Your words”, or press the “Your name” quick style to see the example with Emma in rounded letters. Pick “Rounded” if you want small letters kept, then press “New design” until you like the background decoration, and download or print the page.
Is it free and private?
Yes. The tool is free and needs no sign-up. Nothing is uploaded or sent to a server, and every picture is drawn by the site’s own code when you press a button, not copied from an image collection.
Can I make a page for a classroom door or a gift?
Yes. A name page suits a child’s door or a first-day-of-school sheet, and a word of the week suits a class. For a thank-you gift, pick a short phrase, a border and a decoration, then print one picture per sheet.
Which line weight should I choose?
Thick lines (about 1 mm) suit young children and markers. Thin lines (about 0.35 mm) suit colored pencils and fine detail, and Medium (about 0.6 mm) sits between the two.
Are positive quotes coloring pages good for adults?
Yes. Use a short motivational quote, choose Thin line weight for finer detail, and change the quote for each page you print. Adults often like a quieter background, so “None” or “Doodle dots” can work well.
